Durban-Pietermaritzburg Slow Food convivium

The Durban-Pietermaritzburg Slow Food convivium launched recently. It is named Imifino- the isiZulu word for the green leaves of various wild, edible plants indigenous to the area.

The convivium will be based around Enaleni, an agro-ecological farm in the Midlands that raises indigenous poultry breeds, Nguni cattle and conserves rare, native Zulu sheep. In 2009 Enaleni together with Slow Food have formed the first presidium in South Africa, the Zulu Sheep Presidium
